Independent Publishing of Tarot, Lenormand and Divination Decks – Part 2

temperenceIn my previous blog post, I wrote about the pros and cons of independently publishing your own books and card decks vs. contracting with a traditional publisher.

Both options are viable and promise their own type of satisfaction and both require your committing to a steep learning curb. There are projects that are suited to the independent publishing process and there are those that are better manifested via the traditional publishing route.

How you go about presenting your new ‘baby’ to the world will make a big difference in how much control you have over your projects future and your peace of mind.  Use this blog post as a guideline as you weigh your options and make your choice. Read more

Traditional vs. Independent Publishers of Books and Tarot Cards

temperencePart 1

You’ve got a great idea for a book or a deck of cards and you want to present it to the world.  The question most often asked at this point is, “do I travel the traditional publishing path or do I pull a ‘Christopher Columbus’ and go the independent publisher’s route?”

Both options are viable and promise their own type of satisfaction and both require your committing to a steep learning curb. There are projects that are suited to the independent publishing process and there are those that are better manifested via the traditional publishing route. Read more

What’s an Eclipse and Why is it Important?

temperenceAn eclipse is an event that occurs when one planet is temporarily obscured from our view by the passing of another planet over it.

The two types of eclipses that affect us most here on Earth are Solar eclipses and Lunar eclipses.  A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes in front of the Sun and either partially or fully obscures (hides) it from our view.  A lunar eclipse occurs when the Sun passes in front of the Moon and partially or fully hides it from our view.    We just experienced a solar eclipse on the new Moon on May 9th. May 2013 Tarotscope

thesunAt last! For most of us north of the Equator, real, warm, leaf and flower budding Spring is finally here! Never mind that deadline—get up from your desk and go outside. Please smell the roses and revel in the sunlight and the warmth. This long Winter season has shown us that we do need to appreciate the emergence of life in all aspects of our lives.

THE EMPEROR (March 21 – April 20) Hold on to your hat! The fierce wind blowing in your direction is stirring up more than dust. It’s also unearthing previously hidden information that can help you in your quest to move up in the world. Take this precious intel and examine it carefully—there is something of great value for you.

THE EMPRESS (April 21 – May 20) This is a good time to ‘flirt’ with what has attracted your interest.  Notice that I wrote ‘what’ and not ‘who.’ Although leading with your heart is appealing to you, this is not a time to bullishly pursue romance. This is a time to get familiar with the different ways that you’re turned on by making your dreams a reality.  Use that energy to help you gain the insights and make the contacts you need for the successful outcome of your vision.

THE LOVERS (May 21 – June 20) Your methods of processing information and experiences are shifting to a more even paced, meticulous routine. You already have a voracious appetite for knowledge and personal interaction with others– now, sate that appetite by slowly going through and gleaning the really beneficial parts of the information and discard the rest. The results will pay off handsomely.

THE CHARIOT (June 21 – July 20) You’re changing. Although this is a good thing, it isn’t necessarily a comfortable experience. That’s OK. True change is rarely a consistent stroll through the park. This change is taking place over a period of time, so all you have to do is be mindful of it in your life and tag along with it. Someone from your past will offer to help you.

THE SUN (July 21 – August 22) Do you ever fantasize about wearing a crown, holding a scepter or sitting on a throne? If not—now’s the time to do so.  If so—please continue.  The energizing forces in the Universe are urging you to shine. Grab onto life and let the joy of it lead you in a spirited dance! It isn’t often that you get a license to live, love, laugh, so do take full advantage of this opportunity.

THE HERMIT (August 23 – September 22) Awake, Sleeping Beauty—the time is right for you to implement your plans in order to make your dreams come true. Allow yourself to move forward with the careful, measured grace that is your birthright. Be willing to take the lead and let others know how they can assist you. Remember to be a firm but generous leader and you’ll have the world eating out of your hand.

JUSTICE (September 23 – October 22) Remember last month’s advice about not surrendering to the status quo? Well, it still holds true for you, especially for the next few weeks. Taking and holding this stance will not necessarily be comfortable for you, but it will be rewarding.  You have great stamina and strength of purpose—it’s time to exercise those ‘muscles’ and use them to your advantage.

THE MAGICIAN (October 23 – November 21) Your ruling planet, Pluto, is the planet that insists on personal power and transformation.  Currently (and for a long time to come), it’s in the sign that rules order and manifestation. What does that mean for you? Only that you must become the power force you were meant to be, in your personal life as well as in your public life. You can’t hide your light under a bushel basket any longer. Get yourself a Life Coach and get on with fulfilling your destiny.

THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE (November 22 – December 21) Yes, you are the Wheel, but you don’t have to be the squeaky wheel. You’re meant to roll along smoothly and with the kind of grace that comes from being as blessed as you naturally are. As appealing as orchestrating the ‘big production’ can be for you, it’s time to stand down and allow the Cosmos to work its magic. By doing so, you’ll not only enjoy leading the parade, you’ll enjoy being the star of it as well.

THE WORLD (December 22 – January 19) What you’ve devoted your life to tells us who you are as a person. You are being acknowledged for your contributions and you’ve begun to see the results you’ve worked for.  It feels good, doesn’t it? Keep moving in the direction of your dreams—the Universe is your ally.

THE STAR (January 20 – February 19) You’re very close to breaking the code of a life puzzle that has long baffled you. Here’s a hint—the answer is very close to you—just follow the obvious. What you’ll discover will help you to liberate your dreams and empower your life. An influential person will befriend you and give you the help you need.

THE MOON (February 20 – March 20) Evolution. You are in the process of becoming more than you were in the past. Initially, evolution is an unconscious act.  But now, you’re at the point in becoming the new you, where you must consciously look at and think about what kind of person you want to become and how you will get there. Do this now, and then, put into action the steps that will take you there.

Readers Studio 2013 – The Tarot & Psychology Conference

temperenceWhat a rush!  I’m just beginning to come down from the Readers Studio 2013 experience.  I know it’ll take some time and I’m grateful for that.  I feel like Dorothy, clicking her heels together and repeating over and over, “I don’t want to go home!  I don’t want to go home!”

Instead of the usual three days, on Thursday, April 25th, we made history as we had the honor of participating in the very first Tarot and Psychology conference in the world.  In addition to the exhilaration of RS13, we were also treated to new and different ways of relating to the Tarot, our clients and ourselves.   Read more

Procrastination

temperenceTo paraphrase an old saying, “Why put off ‘til tomorrow what you can do today?”

I wish I knew, but I can’t answer that question, especially when it’s me whose participating in one of humankinds oldest pursuits—procrastination.  We all do it.  The more aware of us know better.  That certain feeling or inner voice that tries to intuitively nudge us into keeping our promise to do something that we know must, for whatever reason, be done.
